The Essentials of Insane Parenting -- What its all about!

As a parent I know that there are times I could use a good laugh, cry, or just read about something that may give me ideas of my own where parenting is concerned. I find that sometimes reading about what other parents go through or have gone through help me to decide on a path in my life that helps me become a better parent. So, I got together with some friends, both old and new to present this blog to you; other parents who may be in need. Each person will write about whatever they are knowledgeable about, or something they have gone through that they have learned something from. As I begin publishing these articles, I will also be submitting for your reading pleasure, a bio of each of our writers. Please learn from and enjoy our blog... its here for you and your friends, if for nothing else; fun!

Snowy Fun

Snowy Fun!

Today is the fourth calamity day of the year for our school system.  My twins were bored, Nick’s been off school for two weeks now recovering from surgery on his ear and was really looking forward to going back to school.  So, since we had all this snow, they decided to start a snow shoveling business.  Using my snow shovel of course!  They asked the lady that lives across the street if she’d like them to shovel her driveway.  Since she already had half the drive shoveled, she offered them five dollars to finish.  She paid them ahead of time and I must say I was mightily impressed when they brought the money back home (before starting) and told me that they planned to use the money to reinvest in their business by buying an additional shovel… how cool is that?

I’m going to post a picture of the job that they did, I couldn’t believe the great work they did.  They started by taking turns using the one shovel.  Then they came up with the idea to use our big broom, one of those push brooms.  So one would use the shovel to break up the ice and snow and the other one would come by after and push the snow.  Then after they had most of the snow off of the driveway, they put salt down to help melt the ice so that they could get the driveway completely snow and ice free!  They also salted her patio for her!  If I were the woman that hired them I would bring them a big tip!

As I write this, they are getting ready to go out and find another customer!  I text my Mom to show her their superb workmanship (picture text) and she’s hiring them to shovel her drive.  I am proud that they took this day to work and be responsible rather than using it to sit around and watch television or play video games.  However, I do have to be truthful and tell you that they did take a break in between jobs and play hockey on the ps2.  In my opinion though… they deserved it!
